Born in 1924, lived and worked as a potter in Blaricum The
Netherlands. His
uncle, the renowned potter Frans Slot from Epe (Gelderland), just
showed him a few basic things. Right from the start he found his own
way, both technically and artistically. He turned and formed his mostly classic shapes in clay. Developing and
putting together his own glazes, firing the products in either an
electrical or natural gas heated kiln. He focussed on
crystal glazes, but also appreciated luster-, woodash- and reduction
glazes.
Alex van de Wal passed away on August 2 2016.
